Crusher Run / DBG / Item #4 / Driveway Mix
Crushed Limestone mixed with stone dust enables this material to pack down nicely to create a hard surface. Most commonly used for driveways, trails and used to make a stable subbase for paving, concrete and sidewalks. As this is the base for a paved driveway, using this material now, will save money when paving later. Item #4 Crusher Run is more uniform because it has been crushed to approximately 2 inches before mixing with the stone dust.
Crushed Limestone
Crushed limestone comes in a variety of sizes and mixes. Smallest are 1A’s which are one quarter inch and smaller, and go as high as #5 which are generally 4 inches. #1’s and #2 are perfect to use for drainage applications. Larger crushed limestone are used for slope protection.
Stone Dust
Stone dust is small particles of limestone, left over from the crushing process. This is used for baseball diamonds, and other playground applications. These small pieces of stone can also be used under patio blocks for leveling purposes.
Bank Run Gravel
Bank Run Gravel is taken directly from the bank or ground. Because bank run gravel is not processed, there is no uniformity to size. This can have stones up to 7” and is used as fill.
Item #4 Gravel
Item #4 Gravel is brown gravel that has been screened or crushed to 1 and a half inches and less. Generally used as a subbase for paving, concrete and sidewalks.
Pea or Round Stone
Pea Stone, is also known as round stone because of it’s shape. Great for garden and house decoration, this stone is also used in roofing (provides excellent drainage), walkways and trails. This can be ordered in sizes just like crushed limestone. Call quarry to check availability of requested size.
Screened Topsoil
Topsoil is soil taken off the top of the land, screened, mixed with a lit bit of sand (this adds breathing and draining qualities to it) then screened again. Excellent for garden or lawn applications. Recommended depths for lawns is 2-4 inches depending on what you are covering. Generally filling in your lawn or other vegetated area you can get away with 2 inches, for new lawn areas or covering fill, use a minimum of 4 inches. Gardens require 6 inches or more depending on your plants.
Topsoil Screenings
Topsoil Screenings is the material left over from the process of screening our topsoil. This is generally used as a dirt type fill that is covered up.
Bank Run Sand
This sand is used directly out of the bank, or ground. Not processed at all. Used as fill, it is mostly sand with some rocks. This sand is also called “blow sand” because the wind will pick it up and “blow” it.
Clean Sand
Clean sand is taken from deeper in the pit, and can be used as clean fill.
Screened Sand
Screened Sand is a sand which has been run through a screener to unify the size and clean out any contaminates. This can be used under patio blocks, as bedding for electric, phone, cable, gas or copper water lines.
Mason Sand
Mason sand is a course sand that is washed as it is screened. This sand is used by masons in their mortar. It is also mixed with cement and stone for concrete applications. Mason sand is also used under pool liners, for volley ball courts, sandboxes, horseshoe pits, and artificial beaches.
Road Sand
Road Sand is a screened sand that has been run through a screener to unify the size. This is used to provide traction in parking lots and roadways during snow events.
Salt
Road Salt is bulk rock salt that is used to provide de-icing of parking lots and roadways during freezing situations.
Salt & Sand Mix
Salt and Sand Mix is a ratio of 3 sand to 1 salt mixture that is helpful in slippery parking lot & roadway situations.
